Eagle Eyes

So, I went for a walk in the New Year's Day sunshine with my father, hoping we might get a few good shots of some eagles sitting in trees not too far away. We ended up getting some amazing shots, including the incredible poser in the bottom shot. We found this immature bald eagle sitting on the railing of a bridge crossing the spawning channel next to the Squamish Golf Course... and he eventually let me walk within 10' of him... add to that a 500mm lens, and you can actually get a pretty good shot! The fellow at the top was sitting on a branch about 15' above our heads, and he was kind enough to sit still for about 30 good shots. The wise old fellow in the middle was about 40' up in his tree... you won't find the white-capped mature bald eagles much lower than that, as time and experience have no doubt taught them that "higher is better"! All in all, one of the best and most productive days of bird "shooting" ever!
