The Jug and the Flying Tank

It was s glorious day for a Flying Day at the Flying Heritage Collection at Paine Field in Everett, WA on Saturday September 15, 2012.  Billionaire owner Paul Allen's unparalleled collection of FLYING warbirds added another feather to its already full cap with the first public flight of the recently restored, and ONLY one flying in the world, Russian IL-2 Sturmovik.  36,000 Sturmoviks were built, making it the most-produced aircraft of WWII... but until the restoration of this one, not one flying example was left!  It flew in tandem with FHC's spectacular P47 Thunderbolt "Tallahassee Lassie", and put on a wonderful 45-minute show for the crowd.  The FHC is expanding to accommodate its growing collection, and I can't wait to visit next year when the new building is completed!
