Why BC is the most beautiful province in Canada... hands down!

This is what a day in Paradise looks like... incredibly beautiful scenes like these can be found a mere 30 minutes north of Squamish, BC.

The kids and I, along with Grandpa, went for a drive to the Upper Squamish, and drove into the Squamish River Valley and then into the Ashlu River Valley. There is a "run of the river" dam being built in the Ashlu that will divert a portion of the river through (I mean right through!)the mountain. They are currently boring a tunnel from 4.5km to 9.5 km on the Ashlu, through solid rock!

The water will be diverted via a spillway, funneled through 3 large turbines, and then returned to the river. The completion date is December 2008, and the impact to the environment is supposed to be minimal. We will see how close to that promise they can come!
