No better way to spend a day...
Ahhhhhhhhh... what a day! Along with a couple workmates, I rode down to Anacortes and back today, all on backroads and rural highways with only a few exceptions. The sun shone all day, temperatures up to 23C... it was fantastic! This is a shot from a quick stop in Washington State Park just west of the Anacortes ferry terminal. The "loop" road around the Park was quite interesting... it was more like riding on a sidewalk through the Park! We also did Chuckanut Drive on the way down, had lunch at "The Drift" in Anacortes (highly recommended!), and a super milkshake at "Hal's Drive-in" in Sedro-Woolley. The only "Oh crap!" moment came just 6 miles southeast of the Sumas border crossing on the way home when I ran out of a corner and nearly got up close and personal with the concrete barrier on the far side of the road... likely due to a front tire that needs replacing and a little bit of dirt on the road... luckily it was only a 25-mph corner... and I was only doing 25-mph! All in all, though, it was the kind of day they invented motorcycles for!
