A Day of Lessons
August 22, 2014... a day of lessons! We started out with a nice drive up nearby Tin Cup Mountain after breakfast... where we learned how to clear fallen trees from a trail. Once at the top, we enjoyed the view for a while, then we had some shooting lessons, ending the days of J's old flip-flops, which had flipped one too many times and blew a strap... nothing like a little lead to ventilate some old rubber sandals! On the way back down, it was time for C to practice her driving for a bit. She did a fantastic job, learning how to drive off-road on an uneven, narrow, tree-strewn, one-lane road... she even pulled over and stopped for the one-and-only oncoming truck before I even saw it! Once back at the cabin, we continued to enjoy the blazing sunshine with paddleboard lessons. J was a natural, up instantly and paddling out into the lake in minutes. K... well, perhaps not a natural... but her perseverance was admirable, and she managed to master the technique enough to have a good time! C took some time to give us henna tattoos, which last surprisingly long! At the end of the day, tired and a little sunburned, we enjoyed another fine sunset prior to lighting our blazing bonfire.
