Still raw, after 18 months
18 months ago, the most devastating landslide in U.S. history roared down on the small town of Oso, WA. Today, the huge scar is still visible. A memorial is growing, and plans are shaping up to convert the entire debris field into a memorial park, with the approval of the families of the deceased. It is a peaceful place on a warm day with the wind blowing. If you happen to pass through, please be sure to stop and walk through the memorial trees to the right of the gate. Each tree is lovingly tended by the families of the deceased, and each serves as a reminder that life can change in a moment.
