Road Trip, Oregon and back, Day 7

Day 7 dawned sunny and warm (and ended up being the warmest day of our trip!).  We had an excellent diner breakfast in Forks, and then headed for the Port Townsend Ferry.  We took the road less travelled along the water, slowing us down a bit, but giving us some lovely curves.  Port Townsend is a neat looking old town, and one we plan to return to for a longer visit.  Best part about the Washington Ferry lineups?  Bike go to the front of the line!  We rolled past 50+ cars, right up to the booth, and were sent to the front of the line for the next ferry.  BC Ferries, are you listening???  After a peaceful 40 minute ferry ride, we rolled off at the Coupeville terminal, where it was a very chilly 10C by the water.  However, 20 minutes later, on the other side of Whidbey Island, we were soon in the low 20s - much better!  North on Whidbey Island, east on Hwy 20, and north on Hwy 9 (with  a lovely lunch stop at one of our faves, the Blue Mountain Grill), and we rolled into our driveway just after 6pm.   A great trip, lots of great roads, some lovely lodging and eating establishments discovered, Tillamook Cheese, bike repairs, interesting Americans... what more could you ask for on a one week trip covering 2,200 kms (K) or 2, 430 kms (J)?  All I can say is Thank Goodness I knew what the problem was, I knew how to fix it, and the part was available!  Note to others - there are literally on motorcycle shops on the Oregon Coast, so be sure your bike is in tip-top running condition before you embark on your great adventure!
