Road Trip, Day 6, Part 3, Haleiwa, Turtles, Home

After exhausting ourselves at Waimea Bay, it was off to Haleiwa for Matsumoto's Shave Ice, and then a drive over to Haleiwa State Park beach to the Green Sea turtles... and to our delight, they were there just like in 2007, lined up for our enjoyment (well, OK, they were sleeping, but give me some rope here)...
The sun was setting as we arrived, and there were maybe 5 other people there. It gave us plenty of time to have a look at the turtles and enjoy the beautiful evening.
J managed to find one of the tiniest creatures we'd seen so far... a tiny little crab that he is most gently pinching between his fingers for this photo... really! Most gently!
The capper to the day was watching the sunset over Kaena Pt. It literally looked like lava pouring off the mountain and into the sea.
After a VERY LONG day, we made it back to Waikiki in time to have a fantastic hamburger at Teddy's Bigger Burgers (highly recommended by all of us). Following dinner, we took a leisurely stroll on the beach before bed.
