270 there and back...

June 21, 2014... Another glorious day to be on two wheels!  We headed south to the Acme Diner for a delicious and very filling breakfast, then backtracked a bit and headed due west to Birch Bay for what we thought was going to be quite the sandcastle competition - not!  You can see in the pic below that there were a lot of people on the beach, but all of the "competitors" appeared to be under 10 years of age!  After enjoying the sun and the smell of the ocean for a while, we headed south through the back roads, via Bellingham and the Chuckanut Drive, to the tiny town of Edison, WA.  Thanks to a hot tip from a senior citizen with sharp ears at one of the Chuckanut viewpoints, we ended up at the Edison Inn for lunch - what a treat!  The food was absolutely delicious, and we spent nearly two hours lounging and eating on the outdoor patio.  Once we could move, it was time to head home via our favourite back roads.  All told, probably the best riding day so far this year!
