Day 2 - The Inside Passage
Day 2 dawned cloudy and grey, but as we headed north to the Inside Passage, the clouds lifted somewhat and the skies lightened. When I saw this cloud above an island ahead of us, I couldn't help but think of every UFO movie I've seen where the spaceship hides in a big round cloud!
That, my friends, is a whale. Really! Well, OK, it's the right fluke of a humpback whale, taken at maximum zoom on our poor, little, overworked camera! We saw several whales (humpback, gray and killer) and a few dolphins.
In the afternoon, off the stern, the sun made it's way through the clouds and we had some blue sky.

The wake of the ship with the sun shining on it... a comparison to the photo above where the sun is not shining directly on the water.
Hey! Why do they call it the "Inside Passage" anyway? What? You're going to put a 900' long, 105' wide ship through that little gap up there? As evening approached on Day 2, we entered the Inside Passage. Despite the somewhat gloomy weather in the morning, the afternoon had cleared up, the sun had come out, and we were treated to the spectacular sights of British Columbia scenery.
Day 2 dinner: French, at "Le Bistro". Delicieuse!
