Sunday morning, May 17th, 6:24am, the Lion's Gate Bridge appears in the early morning light, with Stanley Park on the right and North Vancouver on the left. No matter how wonderful the vacation, there's no place like home!
A mere 6 minutes later and we're nearly at the bridge. The silence was deafening. Other than the wind, you couldn't hear a single thing. It was literally like the entire city was asleep.
Duck! The Norwegian Sun squeezes under the Lion's Gate Bridge with about 20' to spare from the tallest antenna.
The tallest "jewel" in the Vancouver skyline, the 61-story "Shangri-La", rises above the downtown core. With the morning sun shining on it, the building looks like a giant mirrored beacon lighting the way to the heart of downtown Vancouver.
And so, after nearly 7 days at sea and 3,350 kilometers later, we arrive from whence we departed! The cruise was wonderful, and we'd definitely like to do it again some day - albeit a little later in the season so that we might actually be able to enjoy the shipboard pool!
