Airshow 5 - Red Tail Squadron

 

The pride and joy of the Red Tail  Squadron - a gleaming P-51C, fully restored.  This beauty dazzled in the air and on the ground.  The plane is part of a travelling educational road show (including a movie theater in an 18-wheeler trailer) that travels the U.S.A.  The aim is to educate the public as to the contributions made by black pilots in WWII.  We were lucky enough to get the pilot to ourselves for 15 minutes.  He answered all of our questions patiently, and gave us some great insight into the plane, the organization, and what it's like to be a fighter pilot!
