Do the Duffey

Staging out of Squamish, J and I did Part II of the Duffey Lake loop today, having knocked off the first 140 kms getting from home to G&G's.  We left just  before 10am under blue sky and puffy white clouds, with the temperature sitting at 18C.  The first stop was only 10 minutes later, to take advantage of the amazing view of the Tantalus Ridge.

Rolling into Pemberton, we could see the entire valley was filled with forest fire smoke.  Thankfully, as soon as we climbed out of the valley and headed up the Duffey Lake Road, the smoke headed off down Lillooet Lake and we were soon under blue skies again.  By the time we got to Duffey Lake at the half-way point, it was a gorgeous day.

However, once we headed south from Lillooet to toward Lytton and Boston Bar, the smoke returned.  It wasn't until we were south of Lytton that the smoke disappeared again.

After a great lunch in Boston Bar, we popped down to the Alexandra Bridge, where the haze returned briefly.  It was a busy Tuesday at the old bridge, with more people there than I'd ever seen.

Gassing up in Emory Bar, we looked back north and could see the smoke from the big fire at Harrison Lake still pouring over the mountains and into the Fraser Canyon.
