Funny story... or two!

The photo above is taken at the Mist Mountain summit on Hwy 47, just shy of the junction with US30, near Clatskanie, OR on Saturday July 19, 2014.  You can just see Longview, Wa above our bikes, right at the treeline.  We rode north on Hwy 47 from McMinnville, heading for our Saturday night destination - the Super 8 motel in Kelso, WA.  As you can see from the photo below, it warmed up fast!  This was brief stop we made as soon as I realized the gas jockey at Chevron said "Take a right when you get to 18", but should have said "Take a left...".  Oh well, only 15 minutes lost!

Thanks to an app called CoPilot that my wife found, we were very soon back on track to our destination.  When we arrived, we saw something that neither of us had ever seen - a fully-modified Gold Wing with a custom-built sidecar, pulling a custom-built travel trailer... all the way from New York! They must have been fast walkers, as they were at the museum at 0930, and gone by 1100!

The photo below was taken on the second northbound segment of Hwy 47, after we rode the brief section of US26 that joins the two parts of 47.  On the first part, Warren took a nice, fat bumblebee right up the leg of his shorts and received a sting to what he wants me to call his "upper thigh area", but which most people simply call "their butt".  My giggling at his misfortune ended on the second part of 47, when I tried to knock off a nice, fat bumblebee that crashed into my glove... right on to my bare left lower thigh area... and the score was tied at one!  We had the only near-mishap of the trip at the photo below, where some shade, some hard-to-see gravel, and a little extra front brake resulted in some unplanned skidding... but no harm, no foul!
