Oh, what a night!

After a gorgeous ride up to Squamish in the morning sunshine on Sunday July 13, 2014, and a spectacular day basking in the heat and cheering for Germany in the World Cup, it was time to ride home.  Nothing looked unusual until we got out to the Valley and saw the looming clouds to the east.  By the time we got home, the sunset was lighting up the sky with the best sunset of the summer so far... but it was pretty obvious these were no trifling clouds that would soon clear.  The sun lit up the sky with a full palette of colours, including the sky to the east.  It looked like a sandstorm at times, and like it was on fire as the colour deepened.  By the time the sun set in the west, the clouds had backed up to our house, and shortly after the night sky darkened, the rain started to fall... totally unexpected, after such a day.  However, by noon the next day, the sun was back out and the temperatures were back near 30C!
