Northern Exposure
Ahhhh.... Home! The streets and houses of Surrey and Delta pass under our port wing as we come in for our landing at YVR on Saturday July 17, after a 9.5 hr flight covering nearly 6,000 miles from London to Vancouver.
This squiggly river passed under us about 1/2 an hour before we landed... so I'm guessing it's somewhere in the Cariboo, likely just south and east of Kamloops.
This vast BC lake, surrounded by snowcapped mountains, passed under our wing about 10 minutes into BC from Alberta, having flown in over Jasper.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is Greenland. Funny, it does not look green from 40,000' up!
Greenland appears under the wing, about 3 hours out from London. The little white spots are icebergs, and the big white spots are really big ones (think "Titanic").
So, I'm still a little confused... we left London at 10:55am, flew nearly 6,000 miles at 600 miles an hour, and made it home by 1:00pm the same day... this whole time thing messes me up, because when we left, we left at 2pm, flew nearly 6,000 miles at 600 miles an hour, and got to London at 7:30am the next day. One day, it will all make sense!
